Decorating can be as easy....Start with the three things you need…Color, Style, and Formality.
Step 1~Color ~If you don’t already have a color scheme you love, find one in a book or magazine...A fun way to do this is to cut the pictures out and put them in a notebook or journel...
Review all the chooses you are attracted to and go with the one that draws you in the most... Still unsure? Pick your favorite color, plus white, never fail remedy I use on clients...
Step 2~Style...Name your style...This is an trick of mine...Maybe you know you love Country French,Farmhouse Style,or Shabby Chic. Or maybe you like a little of everything!
That’s ok, just make sure you give the room style a name that includes the feeling you want in the room....
For instance, I have a Rustic Farmhouse Cottage Kitchen. (I use rustic and farmhouse as a feeling as well as a visual clue!) Keep the feeling in the name, and you will pick the right style every time!
Finally, formality.... Know if you like a formal or informal room, formal being where things on both sides of the room match, or a more informal feel where you mix and match.
So my kitchen description would go something like this…I want an informal Rustic Farmhouse Cottage style kitchen full of creams, reds, blacks, greens and white. So every time I buy something, I know if it doesn’t fit in that description, it doesn’t fit period!
1~2~3...your done!

good work...and i just did some fall decor today...i think i'll post my super duper cheap and easy decor tomorrow! :)
I'm glad to see you're okay, but I'm sorry about your ghostly issues.
funny you mention "naming your style" . This is what I've been struggling with. My 'style" just doesn't fit into a box or in a name. I have stressed out over this for months now. I used to think I had me figured all out, but now I'm not so sure. The only thing I know is that I'm a taupe, white, cream gal with touches of black. LOL. Wanna come over and help me??
It's such good advice to gather a bunch of photos together and see what pops out. I did that for my kitchen when I didn't know what I liked, and it became so obvious. Great tips!

Meme,
I am so glad that I have things in common with you, because I just adore you and your blog.
How can I help with your other blog? Are you going to have people write articles on a monthly basis and then post them?
Let me know.
Love Melissa
Very interesting! So, are you like Martha Stewart and you are going to teach us?? Thats a good thing right?
Great ideas Meme!!!! What a wonderful and simple way to encourage success in decorating a room! LOVE it!!!!! :-)
Good things for sure! Thanks for sharing.
Great tips and I LOVE that chandelier in the kitchen. Oh I'm in love with it!
Thanks for the great tips, that's a great formula to use for decorating!
Great advice! Thanks for your recent visits to my blog and for your kind comments. I would like to know more about The Project, your goals, aims, and dreams for this new blog. If I were to join in what would be my role and what would it require? I admit I am hesitant as it hard enough to do a few posts a week for my own blog but I am not closed to the idea. Perhaps you could email me at srpbabb@hotmail.com with further details. Thank you so much for the kind offer. Have a great day!
My blog roll is not updating your blog...I will go and check that blog out..how fun!!!

Just stopping by to say, "Hello!" again, and to thank you for sharing the awesome story about your grandmother on "Project Create A Home!" I could relate on so many levels and just wanted to let you know that I so appreciated your story and your candor and honesty! Love from Colorado, Denise :-)
Great tips!!! Thanks so much for coming over to my blog. Loving yours! I'm off to check out your other one!!

Meme...
Girl, I AM enjoying your blog! This post is genius...I've always been a bit confused (since I'm just a self-professed decorator) how to summarize my design style, especially since I like so many...hehe! This post was so well written with step-by-step how to's...all in one basket!!! It sure clarified the steps in deciding design style for a room and how to proceed with future projects and purchases! Loved it!!!
Thanks a million!
Warmest wishes,
Chari
I really like this 1-2-3 approach! What a good idea to have in your head as you consider--and perhaps avoid!--new purchases! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
